Broken PC

“Help, I’ve lost all my photos”

by Andy Pitt on January 22, 2013

I had a phone call the other day from somebody I had not heard from in a while.  The conversation went like this. I will call him Joe.

Joe – “Hi Andy, its Joe here”

Me – “Hi Joe, not heard from you in a while.  How’s things?”

Joe – “Not great, but I hope you can help me”

Me – “What’s happened?”

Joe – “Help, the hard disk on my PC has crashed and I have lost all my photos”

Me – “Do you back up your files?”

Joe – “No”

Me – “I’m sorry Joe, I can’t help you.  If you don’t’ have a backup, they are gone forever”

I was in the same place as Joe a few months ago.  Not bothering to back anything up as I thought it would be okay and nothing would happen to my PC.  Then I bought a USB plug in Hard Drive and started manually backing up my data.  I thought was covered until I read something that scared me.  Most people leave the hard drives plugged in or keep them in the vicinity of their PC.  So if the worst happened (burglary, fire, flood or even power surge) you will still lose all your data.

I have now found the solution, Online Back Up.  This company has a great product.  Unlimited amounts of data, back up more than one device and a free trial.
